Pit Bulls that Make a Difference
When raised in a loving home with a responsible and caring owner, Pit Bulls can thrive. They can even make a difference like Spanky, Cody, and Murphy. Spanky is Mary Tyler Moore’s Pit Bull, who alerts her when her blood sugar is low. The adorable Pittie will sit and stare at Moore until she does something about her low blood sugar and stabilizes her diabetes. When Spanky is not saving Moore’s life, he’s romping with his three canine buddies–a miniature schnauzer, a Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, and a golden retriever– Moore’s additional furry children.

Cody was born with a deformed paw called the “lobster claw syndrome.” He was abandoned at a shelter and rescued by the San Diego-based Pit Bull advocacy center, Even Chance. Barbars Sulier saw the Pit Bull mix and gave him a forever home. After Cody had surgery on his paw and went through physical therapy, the spunky Pit spends his days bringing love and joy to the residents at the Jewish Home for the Aging as a therapy dog.

Murphy knows when he is going to work. Once his therapy vest is put on, his demeanor changes and he knows it’s time to give good therapies. This Pit Bull has been registered with the Delta Society Pet Partners Team since he was 18- months old. One evening each week, Murphy visits a local hospital, but has shared his furry love with a retirement community and a university “stress-less” event. This Pit really loves his job and is helping show people how wonderful Pit Bulls really are.
