The Golden Retriever

I found the website, “The Lovable Golden Retriever,” to be extremely thorough and informative about the breed. It includes such common dog categories as adoption, health issues, training, characteristics, and an enjoyable history of the popular breed. Having a golden myself, I was eager to read through the website and gather relevant information.

As the website describes, it is about the Golden Retriever as “love and loyalty wrapped up in sunshine.” It goes on to say that “Goldens are famous for their easy temperament and boundless enthusiasm.” This is all so true, and resonates with me especially because I have been lucky to have had so many goldens in my life.

The site was created and is maintained by Nancy Aingworth and her team. It’s interesting to note that while there seems to be hundreds of sites dedicated to the breed, when I searched for “lovable golden retriever,” I found this site at the top of the list.

Conveniently laid out, information about this lovable breed is easy to find. There are links that take you back to where you started, as well as links relevant to the subject on the page. A Bing™ search option on the subject of dog breeds is also provided. The one advertisement I found was for Iams Dog Food, which included an interactive demo.

By clicking “Buying a Golden Retriever,” I found an adorable collection of Golden Retriever pictures, both puppies and adults. The link to “Adopting a Golden” led me to a search of animal shelters in the Seattle, Washington area.

The website includes a blog that keeps users up to date about information on the site, and has a number of links to facts about goldens. For example, I clicked on a blog entry about Golden Retrievers as service dogs, which discussed how goldens are trained to help “physically, mentally and emotionally disabled individuals.” I know that goldens serve this important role, but didn’t have all of the facts, which the site gave me.
