My project dog for the day:

I volunteer at a dog shelter in Westchester County, New York. I go there every weekend and walk the dogs.
Recently, I spent four hours working with a little black Lab puppy because she had just come up from the South and was terrified of people. It took an hour of that time to get her used to me. I sat with her in her run and she was really scared at first. I would hold out my hand and she would run to the back of her area. Then, it took another 30 minutes to get her outside of the building.
She was so scared, so cute, and so wonderful. I wish I could have adopted her.
After I got her outside, all she did was sit in the flowers (like in the picture) and be scared. I had to bribe her with treats all the way to the play pen for her to play with another dog. We wanted to see how she was around other dogs, and Ivy did just fine.

My time spent with her must have worked because she was in the area with the other dog and acted like a normal dog!
As I am bringing her back to her run, a couple is really interested in her and has left to bring in their dog to see if they get along together. The lady stayed with Ivy, and I and her husband went to go their dog at home.
When he came back, the dogs got along great.
And Ivy got adopted that day:)
