Buckarooz! Premium Quality Antlers
Buckarooz! is certainly an unusual doggie chew bone. The Buckarooz! package boasts that this natural treat is made from one ingredient only–a deer antler. Buckarooz! is the product of the Free Range Dog Chews, Inc. in Romeo, MI.
The Free Range people wax eloquent as they describe their product. “What is this beautiful appendage that deer wear atop their heads so proudly?”
The master’s handiwork is created from nutrients such as calcium and minerals that are prominent in the deer’s body. Annually, the velvet, protective covering dries and the deer sheds this headdress, making way for a new set to grow.”
The shed deer antlers get recycled to become the Buckarooz! dog chew. Each package contains one antler, which is about 6 to 7 inches long. The label also has a date of expiration. It is produced in the USA.
My dog was eager to try this treat. She grabbed the Buckarooz! dog chew from my hand, and then found a quiet spot for her chewing. She held the antler between her paws, narrow end down for a better grip. The marrow inside the bony antler seemed to interest her the most.
Later, I inspected the antler and noticed that a brownish coating on the outside of the antler had worn off in many spots. This coating might have drawn my dog’s initial attention too, but there was no mention of any coating on the Buckarooz! package.
The Buckarooz! antler laid around the house for several days, but my dog never picked it up again. Maybe she didn’t like the taste of recycled deer antlers. Overall, the product was innovative and definitely natural.
