The Golden Retriever

Included in the series of Lost Souls: FOUND!™ books, compiled and edited by Kyla Duffy and Lowrey Mumford, and published by Happy Tails Books™, is a wonderful assortment of stories about my favorite breed of dogs, the Golden Retriever. The stories are provided by a number of contributors and Golden Retriever rescue groups. The book Lost Souls: FOUND! Inspiring Stories about Golden Retrievers is full of rescue stories about wonderful adopted dogs, and the positive impact they have on their families.

Happy Tails Books™ publishes breed-specific and region-specific compilations of stories about rescued dogs. The stories about rescued Golden Retrievers encourage both tears and smiles of this popular breed of dogs.

When Kyla Duffy thought about the millions of dogs in puppy mills living without love, shelter, or proper medical care, she started the series of rescue stories, and the Lost Souls: FOUND! Book series progressed. There are some books already published, such as “Inspiring Stories about Boston Terriers” and another in the series about Dachshunds. There are also a number of additional titles on their way, including an inspiring book about mixed breeds, and the upcoming book “Hollywood Barks.”

These amazing stories are submitted by fosters and forever families. They promise to reinforce the belief that rescued dogs are exceptional dogs and are certainly worth the effort. Volunteering, donating, or just sharing information is all a valuable way to help the cause.

An excerpt from one of the stories has this to say about a particular Golden Retriever rescue: “I’m grateful that [my Golden Retriever] adopted me, and my hope is that others get to experience the joy of ‘being adopted’ by a special needs dog as well. You’ll never regret it, and your loving pet will always be loyal to you in so many ways.”

While the stories all have happy endings, they are sometimes tough to get through because of the graphic accounts of puppy mills and the sorry state of lost dogs, especially if you read them one after another. I would suggest reading a few at a time, and therefore enjoying the account of new homes for rescued goldens.
